cameron and claire started 5th and 3rd grade last week - i can't believe my little babies are that big! we decided to take a break from homeschooling this year, and have enrolled them in one of the smaller elementary schools here in ashland. definitely a HUGE decision for us, and one we didn't take lightly. we earnestly prayed, and sought wisdom from the Lord, and feel that we haven't made the wrong decision! it's a day-by-day thing for us, and i certainly believe i will homeschool again in the future, but with the new baby coming, and everything that's demanded of us at this stage in the church plant, we felt this was the right decision for the kiddos. i am heavily involved with the kids' classes, and can be a volunteer any day i want to - i can eat lunch with them everyday, and go with them on field trips and class parties.
i met with cameron's teachers, as well as the principal and other leaders this morning, to discuss cameron's learning disabilities. it had to have been a GOD-thing, because everyone who was there, was genuinely concerned and eager to see what they can do, in order for cam to be successful in 5th grade. i heard from all 3 of his teachers, that he's just so polite and well-mannered! that made my heart swell, because as a mom, it's harder for you to see those qualities in your kids when they're with you 24/7! makes you feel like you've been doing SOMETHING right!
so i guess at this stage, we covet prayers for our family - that we'll make the right choices for our family, and be wise and alert to any thing that might be negative toward our kids' development. also, that our kids will do well this year, that God would continue to protect them, and encourage them, and give them courage and wisdom as they set out on a different journey this fall. as parents, we are praying for patience, understanding, and extra-wisdom, as we continue to teach our kids about the Lord on a daily basis, and strengthen the foundation we've laid the past 10 years with them!
