shiny eyes

we watched a movie dad gave us tonight, the secrets of jonathan sperry. it was a great movie!! all 3 kids really enjoyed it - however, when the main character, who was a 73-yr. old man, unexpectedly died, all of us were quietly sniffling. i was trying to peek at caloway, to see how he was handling the emotional scene, and he was holding his fingers over his eyes, and finally he said, "WHY do my eyes DO that?!" and he'd rub them again, try to watch the movie, and rub again when they watered up. he was getting kinda frustrated - "WHY do my eyes keep DOING that!!" he said again, trying to hold his eyes shut.

tim and i were trying so hard not to laugh! claire looked over at me a few minutes later, when i was trying not to cry, and she asked, "mom, what's wrong?"

"nothing, claire - i'm fine."

"oh - i just thought you were sad, cuz' your eyes looked shiny."

sniff.

getting bigger

i was talking with caloway today, and i asked him,

"why do you have to get so big, buddy?"

he looked at me, and pointed up - "because the one up THERE makes me!"

wealth of knowledge

cameron and i were working together, finishing up his schoolwork today - i can't believe my baby boy has just completed 4th grade! we were in the middle of his final bible test, and, not surprisingly, cam got a little off track. while answering questions about how Genesis means beginning, or origin, he asked the question of how languages began, specifically the english language. SO ... since i didn't know the answer, we decided to call poppi!

of course poppi had the most thorough answer known to man, and it was so neat to watch cam, listening on the phone, soaking up all that knowledge! after he hung up with dad, cam moved on to the next question on his test, which was:

to which cameron answered, "the bible .... and talking to POPPI!"
