so we were swimming last night at the Y ... well, i'll rephrase that - tim and the kids were swimming at the Y last night! i don't enjoy swimming that much, so i sit on the sidelines, and hold towels and goggles. clairely finally worked up the courage to go down the big slide, and she swam beautifully to the ladder! it's so exciting to see their swimming lessons paying off! and it's even nicer to be ABLE to sit on the sidelines, instead of having to swim w/ them, holding onto them the entire time! tim still does, but it's nice that i don't have to. after fun w/ the slides and sprayers, they all went to the "warm pool", and swam there for another half hour. caloway likes to "swim" by himself, w/ his noodle and floatie, but after awhile, he wanted the floatie off, because the strap was bothering him. we made him keep it on, however - he's only just started swimming lessons, and in NO way is ready to swim w/o a flotation device.
as we were getting ready to leave, caloway was begging for the back float off, so i decided to take it off, since he still had his noodle. i reached over, and unstrapped the float, and immediately he started freaking out, and sinking! tim and the kids were far enough away, that they couldn't reach him quick enough, so i jumped in, capris, flip flops and all, to pull him to the edge. there is NOTHING SCARIER than seeing your kid sinking in water! the lifeguard ran over, and made sure everyone was ok - it just all happened so fast, i don't think she could've gotten there before me, either.
SO caloway is NOT allowed to be in water w/o his floatie - EVER! until he learns how to swim! i haven't been that scared in a long time, and my heart is pounding just thinking about it. thankfully everyone is ok, and i was able to dry my capris under the dryer in the family locker room, haha!
KEEP AN EYE ON YOUR KIDDOS IN THE POOL AT ALL TIMES!

oh my goodness Beka! I would have done the same thing. That so would have freaked me out! Just call you lifegaurd Beka! This is one of the things that you guys will look back on in 20 years and laugh, really hard. Good story, but so not fun to happen at the time!
Way to go Beka! I can see that picture now..., perfect hair, capris and the sole of your flip flops as they sink beneath the water. Who needs pictures when the imagination can do so much better. :) Cally learned a hard lesson. Floaties to the end! Love you.
