we watched a movie dad gave us tonight, the secrets of jonathan sperry. it was a great movie!! all 3 kids really enjoyed it - however, when the main character, who was a 73-yr. old man, unexpectedly died, all of us were quietly sniffling. i was trying to peek at caloway, to see how he was handling the emotional scene, and he was holding his fingers over his eyes, and finally he said, "WHY do my eyes DO that?!" and he'd rub them again, try to watch the movie, and rub again when they watered up. he was getting kinda frustrated - "WHY do my eyes keep DOING that!!" he said again, trying to hold his eyes shut.
tim and i were trying so hard not to laugh! claire looked over at me a few minutes later, when i was trying not to cry, and she asked, "mom, what's wrong?"
"nothing, claire - i'm fine."
"oh - i just thought you were sad, cuz' your eyes looked shiny."
sniff.

We all cried too! Darrell, Lauren and I were all bawling. Ry and Anna just look out of the corners of their eyes at us and laugh.
So what is the age of feeling emotions? Did Cally reach that point where he was showing emotions without realizing that was what it was? That is so cute!
